-- Davis Equine Services Blog --

We have had many folks ask us what it is like to live on our farm so we have started a blog with the intent of showing some of the things that we do and go through on our farm.

New House Going Under Roof

Here are a couple of images of our new house as it is being sheeted for the roof. You all know how I am about updating my blog lately, but I will attempt to put up images as the process progresses along the way.

Maybe Back On Track

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything on our blog so I am making it a point to starting blogging again.

So what has been going on?

Well my Farrier practice is growing and keeping me busy.

We bred one of our Gay Bar King brood mares to an own son of Rooster on the top and Conquiestidor Whiz on the bottom. We are really excited about next years foal crop!

We are continuing to build our house, we are just about done with the framing process. I will put some additional pictures up before the end of the weekend.

I have been finishing two of our fillies in preperation to sell them. They are doing really well, one of them is a finished cutting horse with multiple AQHA, NCHA Youth points and money on her and the other one has been doing really well in local sorting shows. We have one a couple of jackpots on her.

I just started one of our two year old geldings under saddle and will continue to ride him out. He is really coming around and will be a really good Working Cow Horse in the near future.

Well that's all for now, check back soon to see more updates.

Robert

Ground Breaking!

Yesterday we started to move dirt to build our house. You know your house building adventure has just begun when you are three hours into moving dirt and your house plans change twice due to the dirt work!

Another Ranch Horse Posting

This is our 3 yr old Reining Futurity horse for 2008. Mike Merriman of Mike Merriman Performance Horses LLC has been riding this filly for 60 or so days prior to the Ranch Horse Show on March 4th and 5th.

This filly scored a 66 on her first competitive pattern. We found some holes that need to be plugged, but over I think a 66 is a great score for her first ever show and with only 60 or so days of training.

Way to go Mike and Playin in the Roses! We are going to attempt to get some photos or a video of their performance during the upcoming Missouri Foundation Quarter Horse Association April 5th show at Boone County Fairground.

Ranch Horse Show Results!

March 4th and 5th kicked off the 2008 show season for some of our horses. This particular Buckskin filly did really well for her first ever show. We competed in Cutting, Team Sorting, and confirmation classes during this double judged show. If it was not for my mistakes during the cutting and team sorting we would have done much better than we did. As far as the confirmation classes went, we placed 2nd in the 5 and over mares class.

Our next show is set for April 4th at Boone County Fairgrounds where we will be riding with Missouri Foundation Quarter Horse Association. See you all soon!

Making the Plunge

We have had one of our fillies with a professional trainer since December of 2007 for Reining and Reined Cow Horse evaluation and training. As of yesterday we have made a commitment to continue her training in preparation for competing in the Missouri Owned and Shown 3 yr old futurity in October of 2008.
